Favors

A lot of folks ask me about favors and the relevance. I have to tell you, I personally love edible favors; candy bars, sweet endings bar, chocolate covered strawberries, mints … you get the picture. What I’m really not feeling are nick-nacks - they are soooo passé, people! I hate to tell you… no one is really interested in having another votive candle. They were cool back in the 90’s. I’m sure that you didn’t know that. However, when people go to weddings - trust me they do - the last thing they want is to go home with yet another nick-nack that won’t be finding a shelf at home.
There are a lot of tasteful wedding favors these days that could be re purposed… seeds, letting folks go home with the toasting flutes - un-engraved! , wine stoppers, wine!, champagne… follow? What we don’t want are pictures of the B&G left at every single placesetting - this is priceless to mom and dad - even your siblings may love it - but I hate to tell you, that coworker that you invited that is hoping you quit your job is not going to enjoy that picture of you and your boo on vacation.
I love this site: Stupid Wedding Crap The very old archives are hilarious, but now that she’s getting serious about planning everything doesn’t seem stupid anymore. This happens to most brides…

Thanks for informing people about the importance of reusable/edible place settings. The only thing I find more irksome than an engraved candle holder (or shot glass!) is a framed place card. A frame! For a place card! Argh.

I saw something in a recent Real Simple or bridal magazine that showed place cards woven into the tines of the forks in the settings and LOVED that. It was elegant and didn’t involve tricky tents.

Unforatuntely, you are incorrect about one thing. Now that I’m planning a wedding, everything seems even more monumentally stupid than it did before. I am in a constant state of disbelief about just how much junk people are trying to shove down my bridal throat. Sigh.
